Our youth course is designed to help you develop your personal pathway into further training or future employment.

You will gain confidence in the foundation skills of math, reading, comprehension, problem solving, communication, team building and interviewing.

Our youth course allows you the opportunity to learn and grow in a comfortable and safe environment.

Our classes are small to ensure quality tutor to student face to face time.

Your pathway is designed with your needs, goals and objectives clearly in mind

Pathways include; further training eg: MIT, AUT or another training provider or potential employment opportunities via work experience.

Qualifications

You can possibly achieve:

  • KAAT certificate
  • National certificate of Employment skills Level 2 – 66 credits
  • First Aid certificate, covering 2 years
  • License – Learners/Restricted Drivers

Personal Gains

Being on this course, you can improve your basic math skills, communication and interviewing skills as well as greatly increase your self confidence.

This is a small classroom environment, which means you will have the benefit of more one to one with your tutor.

Entry Requirements

  • Less than 18, no or low qualifications with exemption from school
  • 18 or older and have left school with the last 26 wks
  • Less than 18 enrolled with Workbridge – referred by in depth interview
  • Less than 18 referred by WINZ as a youth client, or referred by Youth Transitions Service or registered unemployed for 13wks or more, no tertiary qualifications

The successful applicants will be able to supply all required documentation within the TEC entry criteria for Youth Programme

Duration

  • 48 weeks

Enrollment

You are required to bring:

  • ID – birth certificate or passport
  • Bank Statement – showing name, account number and address
  • Exemption (if applicable)

All other forms of ID are welcome (drivers, IRD number, Work and Income community service card)

Course Requirements

Learners are required to:

  • have at least an 80% attendance rate
  • be punctual (on time)
  • notify their tutor if they are going to be late or away from class
  • complete all unit standards issued in compliance with their Individual Learning Plan
  • respect other students/staff and property within the organization        

Student Support

There is both educational and social support for students. The Trust will assist students wherever possible to successfully complete their course of study. KAAT Trust has developed an extensive network of people to assist students both culturally and socially.
