This course is specifically designed to give learners an in depth look at a choice of career within Early Childhood Education.  Learners will need to complete work placement in an early childhood center as well as learning packages aimed at improvement in literacy and Numeracy, Workplace Learning just to name a few.

Qualifications

  • employment in the Early Childcare field
  • further education level 3, level 5 and National Diploma in Early Childhood teaching
  • units towards the National Certificate of Employment skills
  • life skills to develop the individuals knowledge, confidence and self esteem
  • off-site work-base component (to be arranged by student and tutor)

Entry Requirements

  • 18 or older with no or low qualifications
  • Registered with Work and Income New Zealand

The successful applicants will be able to supply all required documentation within the TEC entry criteria for Foundation Focused Training Opportunities Programmes.

Duration

  • 48 weeks

Enrolment Procedure

Once students have been accepted on the course, a time will be set aside for enrolment. Students will need to bring the following items

  • I.D (passport or birth certificate)
  • Work and Income Referral Letter (refer to Administration for any other Eligibility requirements)
  • Bank Statement for Travel Allowance

We have extensive links with other organisations involved in the delivery of Early Childhood Courses

Course Requirements

Learners are required to:

  • have at least an 80% attendance rate
  • be punctual (on time)
  • notify their tutor if they are going to be late or away from class
  • complete all unit standards issued in compliance with their Individual Learning Plan
  • respect other students/staff and property within the organization  

What the Student can expect from Training

KAAT Trust endeavours to provide learners with skills and knowledge that will provide them with the ability to gain employment or to go on with further training in the Early Childcare field.

This Foundation Focused Training Opportunities Programme is funded by the Tertiary Education Commission and the Ministry of Education.

Student Support

There is both educational and social support for students. The Trust will assist students wherever possible to successfully complete their course of study. KAAT Trust has developed an extensive network of people to assist students both culturally and socially.
