Caregivers for Homesupport provides a Level 2 introductory based training programme that equips the participant/student for immediate employment into the Caregiving Industry upon completion. It is an initiative prompted by KAAT Trust and its potential supported by the Ministry of Social Development through its Industry Partnership Scheme.
The programme consists of NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Association) approved unit standards that create the core generic requirements of the course. And with the services of an experienced and qualified specialist tutor our professionally designed Caregivers Modules, theoretical and practical, certainly puts our participants/students in line if not ahead of current Careworkers in the industry.

- National Certificate in Caregiving for Homesuport level 2
- Practical Beginners/Intermediate First Aid Training
Future gains for Participants
What makes the Certificate in Caregiving special is that it is stepping stone for all participants to further pursue qualifications while working, through organizations like Career Force who offer the National Certificate in Caregiving. It also opens the avenues for our participants to see what other careers within the Health Sector that they may want to pursue. It is never-ending and the KAAT Certificate in Caregiving is the foundation.
Entry Requirements
- must be 18 years or older
- registered and reffered through Work and Income New Zealand
- must have a restricted license or higher
- No prior criminal convictions (police vetting will be done during your enrolment)
Duration
Course Requirements
Learners are required to:
- have at least an 80% attendance rate
- be punctual (on time)
- notify their tutor if they are going to be late or away from class
- respect other students/staff and property within the organization
What does KAAT provide?
KAAT Trust provides the training facilities equipped with computer lab, necessary Caregiving equipment, lifting hoist etc, Programme material and stationary. A KAAT Trust Programme Coordinator is in place to cater for participant/student queries, to liaise with the employers, to liaise with MSD (Ministry of Social Development) Work and Income, and to make sure the participants are coping with Certificate requirements and Course structure is followed appropriately.
Student Support
There is both educational and social support for students. The Trust will assist students wherever possible to successfully complete their course of study. KAAT Trust has developed an extensive network of people to assist students both culturally and socially.
