Real Skills for the Real World

We teach you the skills that employers’ want – real skills for the real world. This is our primary teaching goal, and all of our study programmes are structured to deliver this promise.

  • Each class has a theory or knowledge component, which is learned via real-world examples and assignments. You get to apply your new knowledge immediately.
  • All our lecturers have strong industry experience and contacts.
  • Depending on your chosen programme, you will have a work experience placement available.
  • KAAT have employers on the academic advisory committees and they make the industry networks possible.
  • Employers are approached with the offer of having students assisting them with tasks relevant to their Programme of study at no remuneration.
  • Lecturers visit the students while on work experience to evaluate them and gain feedback from the employers. They also ensure that the students are not exploited in any manner and are working in accordance with the agreement signed by KAAT and employer.

Technology Enhanced Learning

We provide a comprehensive technology enhanced learning environment: wireless Internet access; digital technology in the classroom; student Intranet; 25% of course content delivered online; moderated assignment discussion forums; lecture handouts available online. Learn more >

Our staff with international experience will assist you in choosing a rewarding career and finding the best study pathway to reach your goals. Whether this is to get a job in the shortest possible time, or whether you want to continue onto University, we can help.

Internationally Recognised Qualifications

All our qualifications are approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority - the Government agency responsible for tertiary education in New Zealand.

Our Computing diplomas have embedded internationally recognised industry qualifications - for example Cisco and Microsoft.

Flexible Start Dates

A majority of our qualifications have multiple intakes during the year and so are able to better cater to you individual requirements.
