Peter Howard Smith     

B.Com, Diploma in Business (Management of Information Systems), CAET–(National Cert in Adult Education & Training), NZ Certified Cricket Coach Level 2

Peter has a Bachelor's degree in Commerce majoring in Accounting and Auditing from the University of Bombay. He has a Diploma in Business in Management Information Systems from Auckland University. He is an experienced and qualified Lecturer having extensive local and international experience with a Certificate in Adult Education and Training from Skills New Zealand. He is also a fully certified New Zealand (Level 2) Cricket Coach.

Peter has considerable international business experience working in the Sultanate of Oman (Middle East) and in New Zealand in his role as IT Manager, has set up IT systems and supported small to medium sized organisations.  His last position in the IT industry was IS Manager of Prestige Marketing Limited. His experience covers a range of industries such as Insurance, Retail, Manufacturing, Engineering, Marketing and Education. He has held other positions including: Accounts Payable Manager for Farmers Trading Company Limited (NZ), IT Manager/Systems Analyst for Nu-Con Limited (NZ), Systems Support Technical for Paykel Engineering Limited, IS Team leader for National Insurance Company Limited (Sultanate of Oman).

He has worked in his own business for the past 11 yrs as a Consultant to the IT industry and so is fully up-to-date with the latest requirements that employers are looking for.  He has lectured at AUT (Auckland University of Technology), MIT (Manukau Institute of Technology) and AIS St.Helens (Auckland Institute of Studies) at NZ Dip. Bus. and Bachelor’s levels. Peter is multi-lingual (Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi and English) and understands the challenges of learning and becoming competent in another language.

Peter is passionate about cricket and coaching the game. He is well known for his coaching skills and has been actively playing as well.  A former Bombay (India) Cricketer, called up twice to the Bombay State trials, has played at a first class level in India and Muscat, and has been actively involved with cricket coaching for the past 20 years in New Zealand. Some of his students are currently state team representatives. His other passions are music, history, travel and photography.
